Marsbot is the chatbot that you don’t have to chat with.

The way Marsbot works is you download the app and then pretty much never have to touch it again. Using Foursquare’s API to gather location data—Marsbot takes note of places that you visit and will text you recommendations every so often when there’s something new you might want to check out nearby.

In early phases, Marsbot was only available in San Francisco and New York City, but now it’s available for the whole USA. Try it out!

I wrote dozens of SMS messaging flows, created and implemented a style guide, crafting onboarding, App Store copy, and more. It was a super small team working on this and I’m really proud of what we made. Marsbot is still one of my favorite things I’ve ever worked on.

People tend to thing my job is writing words, when in reality my job is writing the least amount of words possible. My design partner and I wanted to keep things pretty lightweight since the focus really wasn’t on the app itself, the kind of onboarding you just get, and get through quickly.
